Project 365 - Day One

I have started a project 365 so I am going to try and do a sketch/concept every day especially for it. The game is discipline. - PROJECT 365 - Im not gonna post all of them here since I have the project page but I will post the ones I like the most.

Day one is a quick sketch starting with thick strokes and then some fine detailed ones over it and then thick ones again.

Comics Series - Logan

After having artists of the caliber of Barry Windsor-Smith, Art Adams, John Byrne, Kent Williams and Travis Charest performing work on Logan/Wolverine, I am giving it  a shot. Hah!

I have used Charles Bukowski as the source for it. His lifestyle and looks fit the concept I have of Logan perfectly.

Comics Series - Batman & Robin

I tried to create a more brutal and realistic proportioned Batman.. avoiding the usual Male model/bodybuilder approach. And tried to emphasize the intimacy between the (Super)friends.

Comics Series - Wonder Woman

I had this idea in mind for quite some time and now I'm making a move on it.

Trying to add some fetishist elements on some comic book characters that are already pretty kinky... like the Wonder Woman. More characters to come.

I am working on some photoshop concepts based on pornographic frames. The idea is to create human designs to be used for a possible oil series. I hope you like it.

Self Portrait

It was supposed to be part of my first exhibition in January. But, just as my real face, I am tired and sick of looking at it. Who needs another ugly painter painting himself full of hate and pseudo-poetry. I think this is pompous and purposeless so my exhibition is going to be just about women.

January Exhibition - Preparation part 001

I am having a group exhibition in January here in London and the canvases I ordered have arrived yesterday.

They are:

2x - 150 X 120 cm
2x - 120 X 100 cm
1x - 80 X 80 cm

I have never painted so big in my life so just the sight of them in the studio is overwhelming.

The studio itself looks a lot smaller with them in it too. The easel wont hold that either. Im gonna have to paint outside in the backyard or perhaps clear one wall and paint it hanged.

Safe from the Media

This is a study for a new series of portraits.

A series about socially retarded people. The incapacity to interact, the self consciousness, ugliness and deformity. The people that dont have photos of parties and thousands of friends to show. To me, they are the people I identify with and they are the people I find most interesting to portray and to sit and chat.

Joao Ruas Portrait

Portrait of fellow brazilian artist Joao Ruas - www.feral-kid.com.

I worked using memory and small online photo of his in one of his show openings.
My idea was to interact with his face in a very aggressive and personal way. This was the first time I tried a portrait like this.

Palette used:

• burnt sienna
