Self Portrait

It was supposed to be part of my first exhibition in January. But, just as my real face, I am tired and sick of looking at it. Who needs another ugly painter painting himself full of hate and pseudo-poetry. I think this is pompous and purposeless so my exhibition is going to be just about women.

Oil on Canvas - 150X120cm

  1. looks good man. It doesn't seem to have any hate on there to me, maybe a bit of coldness and disconnect. I like the textures too.
Maybe next time you could do a smaller study in a single session and decide then if you want to paint the same thing but larger, or move on to another idea.

    Cheers

  4. Looks great Mario, great painterly texture, keep it up! One question though - are the proportions a bit off intentionally? I know that going from small to big format may be troublesome initially, how do you feel about it so far?
And the photo with your daugther is totally cool hehe, great artsy vibe at home!

  10. Forgot to ask... this was done over acrylic gesso? I mean, I cant see any rough texture on the fabric, so Im guessing you use pretty smooth canvas. Dont forget to check the Kent Williams website, I was not able to find on your links, so you´re probably not familiar with his work, but you should, I can see a rather large resemblance to his stuff... Im pretty sure you´re gonna love it.
